Introduction

I'm a maths teacher, before that I was an accountant and before that I did a maths degree.  Basically I love all things number.

As a teacher, I have started to focus on nutiring a growth mindset with my pupils.  Many of them come to my class with a belief that they can't do maths which has grown through school or they hear repeated often at home.

I'm keen for them to see that their ability and confidence will grow maths through the effort they put in.  Obviously I'm reading and planning plenty of growth mindset activities but I wanted to prove to them and me that this is true of everything.

So I've decided to develop my ability and confidence in a more creative field away from my precious numbers.  I enjoy knitting but don't really have any sense of colour, have a limited collection of stiches, have never dyed my own yarn and never created my own patterns.  So I plan to bring all that together and create some knitting on the theme of the Forth Rail Bridge.

This blog is a learning log of the project.
